An alternative rock five-piece hailing from the bottom of the South Island.
Superficial is an Alternative Rock band based out of Mount Aspiring College, who has found recent success in the lead up to their self-titled, 3-song live EP. They are known across the school and the district for their iconic sound, reminiscent of the golden days of Paramore.
Their success is due in part to the tightness of their performances and the uniqueness of their songwriting. Their melodies are often mathematical masterpieces - ones which you never forget. These attributes have led them to win numerous awards. 1st place and best use of electronic assistance at Rockquest, the Rakuto Kurano music event grant, and Harvey Norman Kura Schools competition, to name a few.
They are gaining fast attention and have blown away those who have listened to them, and are a fresh new force in the local music scene. Their stage presence is also notorious for being captivatingly high-energy, standing high above their age group.
Superficial has a cult-like following and is a class favourite among locals, often playing sold-out bar gigs and opening for larger bands. Their regularly praised skill and raw creativity has undoubtedly secured them a one-way ticket to the hall of fame.
